Objectif Sainte-Mère-Eglise
D-day American paratroopers - Written by the Airborne Museum
So much more than just a book: this commemorative work, produced for the first time in conjunction with the Sainte-Mère-Eglise Airborne Museum’s outstanding collection, retraces the epic journey of the victorious troops of the 82nd and 101st airborne divisions from their inception to their combat missions in Normandy, Holland, Belgium and on to Germany. Many documents and artifacts from the Museum's collection illustrate the pages of this account of the paratroopers' perilous mission, the accomplishment of which was crucial to the success of the allied invasion of Normandy. The sacrifices, made by the American paratroopers, remain one of the greatest military achievements of the D Day landings and the battle of Normandy. On June 6th 1944, the destinies of those men and the small village of Sainte-Mère-Eglise were entwined in perpetuity. 172 PAGES

Alexxandre Renaud raconte - Ed. Maurice RENAUD

When the allies created fashion
On 6 June 1944, by liberating Europe, the Allies would have a lasting influence on fashion and change the world’s perspective of the uniform. Leather pilot jackets from the US Air Force, denim garments from the navy, cargo pockets from the airborne troops…The American soldier fascinates with his bad boy look, in sharp contrast to the "Prussian" severity of the uniforms of a German army in full retreat. The Allied generals were also aware of the importance of image and clothing style in terms of communication. Montgomery was inseparable from his iconic and "ever-so-British" duffel coat, while Eisenhower established a modern image with the shortened jacket to which he would give his name. In the Pacific, MacArthur paraded about in his famous Ray Ban aviator glasses, associating them with a powerful and relaxed image. General or just a soldier, the liberator was appealing due to his "look". This work presents the origin of this "military" style through the surprising history of some of the most quintessential Allied uniforms which, over time, have become fashion icons.
